How should topic votes and comment votes be used differently?

I can see value in voting on a feature request and also voting on a helpful reply. I would like to understand whether the two counts are intentionally separate and how they affect sorting or member profiles.

I would keep the behavior explicit rather than automatic. A clear setting plus a visible status in the interface is easier to troubleshoot, especially when several team members or integrations are involved.

Thanks. I tested that direction on this staging community. The main thing I want to confirm now is whether the interface makes the state obvious without needing to inspect logs or hidden settings.
